About Courses Derry Host a Student Enquire
Effective 30 June 2026

Privacy Policy

Foyle International ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. We are committed to handling your data in line with the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.

Who we are

Foyle International, 72 Great James Street, Derry, BT48 7DE, Northern Ireland. Email: info@foyle.eu. Telephone: +44 28 71 371 535.

What we collect

When you submit our enquiry form we collect the information you choose to provide:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Country
  • Area of interest (course type)
  • Any message you write

We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site. The only third-party cookies that can be set are from Instagram posts embedded on our Discover Derry page — and only if you choose to allow them (see Cookies and Embedded content below).

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry and provide information about our programmes
  • To process a booking if you decide to proceed
  • To keep records required for accreditation, financial, and safeguarding obligations

Lawful basis

We rely on your consent (submitting the enquiry form) and, where you become a student, the performance of a contract with you or your sending organisation.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are retained on our systems until you ask us to delete them — you can do this at any time by emailing info@foyle.eu (see Your rights below). Records related to confirmed bookings are retained for as long as required by accreditation bodies (British Council), Erasmus+ programme rules, and UK/Irish tax and safeguarding law — typically 6–7 years after the end of the programme.

Who we share it with

  • Google LLC — the enquiry form is submitted via a Google Apps Script endpoint, and our fonts are served from Google Fonts. When you load a page or submit the form, your IP address and browser information are visible to Google's servers.
  • Our website hosting provider — standard server logs (including IP address) are processed by the company that hosts this website for security and abuse prevention.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd (Instagram)only if you consent to embedded content. Our Discover Derry page can display Instagram posts. If you allow this, your browser connects to Instagram to load them, and Instagram receives your IP address, device and browser information, and may set its own cookies. This does not happen unless you choose "Accept all" on the cookie notice. See Instagram's privacy policy.
  • Accommodation providers, accreditation bodies, and sending organisations — only when relevant to your booking, and only the information needed.

We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to advertisers.

International transfers

Google and Meta (Instagram) are US-based companies. Where your data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, that transfer is covered by the relevant Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

We do not set tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies of our own. We use a single essential localStorage entry (foyle-consent) to remember your choice on the notice bar — nothing else is stored in your browser by us, and this entry requires no consent because it is strictly necessary to honour your preference.

Google Fonts may set its own cookies when loading font files from fonts.googleapis.com. You can block these in your browser settings without affecting the site's functionality (only the typography will fall back to a system font).

If — and only if — you choose "Accept all" on the cookie notice, Instagram (Meta) may set third-party cookies when posts are embedded on our Discover Derry page. If you choose "Essential only", no Instagram cookies are set and we show plain links to the posts instead.

Embedded content

Our Discover Derry page can show real Instagram posts from @foyleinternational. These embeds load content directly from Instagram's servers and behave as if you had visited Instagram itself: Instagram can receive your IP address and device information and set cookies. Because this is not strictly necessary, we load these embeds only after you give consent by selecting "Accept all". Until then, you see ordinary links to the posts and no data is sent to Instagram.

Changing or withdrawing your consent

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser (Settings → Privacy → clear site data for foyle.eu), which removes the foyle-consent entry and makes the cookie notice appear again so you can choose "Essential only". You can also block third-party cookies in your browser settings.

Your rights

Under UK and EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
  • Object to or restrict how we use your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (UK) at ico.org.uk or your national supervisory authority in the EU

To exercise any of these rights, email info@foyle.eu. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when our practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.

Accessibility Statement

Foyle International is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, including users with disabilities, in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882).

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML structure with a single <h1> per page and a logical heading order
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images; decorative images are marked accordingly
  • Form fields paired with visible <label> elements
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and visible focus indicators
  • Colour contrast that meets WCAG AA targets for body text
  • Responsive layout that works from 320px up to large desktop displays
  • No content that flashes more than three times per second
  • Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content or function

Known limitations

We are aware of the following gaps and are working to address them:

  • Embedded YouTube videos on the Derry page may not have full closed captions for every language
  • A handful of decorative animations rely on CSS only and respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting, but not every interactive element has been independently audited
  • PDF downloads generated from the Terms page rely on the browser's print engine and may not be fully tagged for screen readers

If something is not accessible to you

If you encounter a barrier or have feedback on the accessibility of this site, please contact us — we treat accessibility issues as a priority.

Email info@foyle.eu with the subject line "Accessibility", or telephone +44 28 71 371 535. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Enforcement

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (equalityni.org) or the relevant accessibility supervisory body in your country.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 9 June 2026 based on a self-assessment of the website against WCAG 2.1 AA. We review it at least once a year and after any significant change to the site.
