OET Preparation Courses

The Occupational English Test (OET) is a test for healthcare professionals and recognised in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, among others, for proof of English to be able to live and work abroad.

We deliver OET Preparation Courses face-to-face as well as online. In addition, we are an official OET exam centre, meaning you can prepare for and take your exam at Foyle International.

The exam itself simulates real workplace asks and tests relevant language skills for each profession. By taking one of our OET preparation courses, you will improve your level of English – focusing on the language and vocabulary you need for real work scenarios, as well as exam techniques and skills needed to pass the OET exam.

Our experienced tutors are qualified in the delivery of OET preparation courses, with bespoke materials, written specifically for your profession to pass the OET test.

The OET has been developed specifically for 12 healthcare professions:

  1. Medicine
  2. Nursing
  3. Dentistry
  4. Dietetics
  5. Occupational Therapy
  6. Optometry
  7. Pharmacy
  8. Physiotherapy
  9. Podiatry
  10. Radiography

OET course

This course involves English language preparation – focused on Medical English specifically – to ensure you achieve your desired OET Grade B (equivalent to IELTS 7.0). This course also includes exam skills and techniques needed for all four subtests of the OET examination.

Our tutors will recommend a duration of study, based on a student’s level of English upon entry to the course.

  • 15 hours per week
  • Group classes
  • Classroom based

This course will help you to improve your general English and communication skills, with the language being focused specifically on Medical English. The course provides 15 hours per week of English – a combination of General and Medical (OET) English. During these morning sessions your teacher will work on all areas of the OET test: Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing. Practice includes examination tasks and mock exams.

An individual log is kept of your scores to highlight stronger skills and pinpoint weaker areas for further development. The aim of this is to show progression and to form the basis for assigning supplementary work to improve on these areas. In addition, the course will also cover study techniques, research methods, IT skills, self-development and cultural awareness in order to help you prepare effectively for employment in an English-speaking environment.
