CELTA Certificate Course

Teaching English to speakers of other languages can be a highly rewarding career, offering you the chance to live and work in different countries. You will need an internationally recognised teaching qualification. The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) is highly regarded throughout the world.

CELTA is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience and opens up a whole world of exciting teaching opportunities. Because it is awarded by Cambridge ESOL, part of the world-famous University of Cambridge, you can rely on its quality and recognition. More than 12,000 people successfully complete a CELTA course each year.

 


TEFL/TESOL Certificate Course

This 60-hour blended-learning course covers all the basics you will need to know to get you started in the world of English Language Teaching. Amongst other things, the Certificate in the Practice of English Language Teaching – TEFL/TESOL will teach you about planning lessons, show you essential teaching techniques and tips and introduce you to the grammar of the English language.

In addition, it will offer you live classroom observations and actual teaching practice – that way you have the chance to watch real English classes at Foyle International and you will also teach a class of foreign students as part of the course.


CLIL - Content & Language Integrated Learning Course

CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning and is an increasingly popular approach to teaching in which subjects are taught through a second language, in this case English. This course for primary and secondary teachers provides an introduction to using CLIL in the classroom, but is not subject specific.
The course looks at teaching subject content through English and English through subject content. Blending theory and practice, it provides a comprehensive overview of CLIL approach and objectives, giving participants ample practice in developing CLIL materials and in planning lessons.

 


Intensive Refresher Course for English Teacher

This is a two-week course for English language teachers for whom English is a second language. Morning lessons focus on the practice and honing of English language skills while afternoon sessions provide teachers with the chance to review and update their existing teaching skills.

The course blends theory and practice to provide a review of communicative aims, methods and lesson designs, as well as an overview of methodologies such as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), Task-Based Learning (TBL), and Blended Learning (BL).

 


Drama for Creative Language Learning Course

The Drama for Creative Language Learning course introduces teachers to the idea of using a dramatic pedagogy in the language learning classroom to enhance student capabilities and teacher confidence. Participants will be introduced to all dramatic strategies and techniques as well as explorative strategies, which when utilized in the language classroom, provide an authentic space where language learners can practise real life language, stimulate intellect and imagination and improve learners self confidence and motivation.

 


Technology for Language Learning Course

The Technology for Language Learning course introduces teachers to the practical ways they can use technology to enhance the learning experience for English language students. The course provides plenty of opportunity to gain hands on experience, as well as looking at the theoretical perspectives of the use of technology for language teaching. Participants will also develop and consolidate their own English language skills and produce a portfolio of lesson materials drawn from both the input sessions and the extra-curricular excursions and day trips.

 


Best of Both: Exploring British and Irish Culture
