What is this programme?
Our Teen Summer School provides students with the opportunity to learn and practice English in an authentic, learner-centred way. Quality tuition delivered by experienced and enthusiastic teachers, combined with a thoughtfully planned syllabus produces excellent results among our young adults.
By mixing with other teenagers from all over the world and using their English in a range of fun activities, your son or daughter will make friends, build confidence and fluency in English as well as develop independent living and learning skills. Not only that – they will enjoy the experience of a lifetime!
Integrated programme of language and activities
The academic and social elements of the summer course are carefully planned together so that afternoon activities are prepared for in the morning classes, and day-long excursions have a linguistic focus with students completing fun tasks during the trip. This interaction between programme elements means our students engage much more fully in activities and events, and gives them confidence using their new English skills in real-life situations.
Classes take place in the morning and last for three hours. They focus not only on academic achievement, but on the development of the person as a whole. This is done by providing opportunity for all of our students to learn in the way that best matches their learning style and personal interests. Themed project work is engaging and relevant, with the use of technology both inside and outside the classroom.
Through student/teacher tutorials, each individual sets their own learning targets which are reviewed regularly and recorded in their personalised learner’s portfolio.
Our courses help improve language skills, promote autonomous learning and provide each student with the skills to think creatively and critically while all the time building positive social relationships. Classes provide the maximum opportunity for learners to speak and produce the English language, to develop confidence and, most importantly, to be part of a fun, positive learning experience.
We offer a range of workshops each Wednesday afternoon, offering either extra language development such as Trinity exam skills, pronunciation, fluency development or cultural workshops such as Irish music, drama or creative writing.
Junior students stay with local home stay providers on a full board basis, usually with another student of a different nationality. Our hosts are famous for their warmth and hospitality – you really feel like a part of the family.
