The perfect way

Our residential English and Horse Riding Summer School for students aged between 12 and 16 combines quality English classes with a top level horse riding programme

What is this course?

Located in the stunning Tullagh Bay region of Donegal and run in conjuction with the Wild Atlantic Way Adventure Centre, this exclusive summer school offers students the opportunity to enjoy the best tuition and riding available in the north west.

Wild Atlantic Way Adventure Centre is a family run business nestled in one of Europe’s finest coastal landscapes known as The Wild Atlantic Way. Located 6km’s outside the picturesque village of Clonmany, Co.Donegal it is the most beautiful setting in which to ride.

The programme runs for two weeks, combining English classes each morning with horseriding in the afternoons (or vice versa), and social activities each evening. On Saturdays and Sundays there are excursions to exciting tourist hotspots to see some of Ireland’s famous landmarks.

At the beginning of the programme all students are given an English test, graded and placed in a class at the correct level for their abilities. The structured classes help each student improve their grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and listening skills with an emphasis on improving their confidence in spoken English.

Activities are stimulating and interactive and each student will keep a portfolio of their work as a record of achievement. We also encourage all students to keep a written diary, contributing to our school blogs, and a great way for parents to follow their child’s stay.

Our maximum class size is 15 with an average of 12. During the course progress is closely monitored and at the end, students will be tested and presented with a course certificate and end-of-course report.

Students ride each morning or afternoon and follow a progressive programme of flatwork and jumping, as well as leisure riding, games and cross country.

Evening social activities allow students to relax and use their English in a variety of fun ways.

On Saturdays and Sundays students can enjoy day trips to some of the country’s best loved tourist hot spots.

Full board on-site residence accommodation is provided at the adventure centre. There are single-sex dormitories, sleeping between 4 and 6 students, with live-in supervision and hearty Irish food cooked fresh every day.

Our residential buildings are all located within the grounds of the centre offering a very safe environment for our students.
